Notice of Race
1- EVENT
The South American FE Championship will be held from Saturday 30th October to Monday 2nd November.
2- ORGANISER
The championship will be organized by WR Windsports, City Hall of Maragogi and Federação Alagoana de Vela e Motor, under ABWS supervision.
3- VENUE
3.1 The event will be based on Maragogi beach. Maragogi is a touristic town in the northeast Brazil with the green sea with white sand beaches and palm trees everywhere. The reefs outside keeps the water flat and warm near the beach.
3.2 Conditions to be expected: winds 10-20 knots, side shore and onshore; water temperature 25o C and air temperature 30o C
3.3 The racing area will be in front of Golfinho restaurant
3.4 The nearest airport is Guararapes International Airport – Recife
3.5 Lodging: there are few options to stay at Maragogi beach:
4- RULES
The competition will be governed by ISAF Windsurfing Competion Rules (WCR). If there is a conflict between languages, the English text will take precedence.
5- ADVERTISING
5.1 ISAF Regulation 20 -Advertising Code - shall apply.
5.2 Competitors may be required to carry advertising for event sponsors – both on their sails and on a lycra vest, if supplied by the organizer.
6- ELEGIBILITY AND ENTRY
6.1 The championship will be disputed for sailors of Formula Experience Class on divisions OPEN, JUNIOR U15, JUNIOR U17, SENIOR, MASTER, GRAN MASTER, WOMEN, LIGHT WEIGHT OPEN e HEAVY WEIGHT OPEN. Formula Windsurfing is an invited category and there are no divisions for this class.
6.2 The competitors Racing on Formula Experience class shall be registered on National Windsurfing Association with 2009 fee paid.
6.3 Until October 15th 2009 the entry fee could be paid with discount: R$ 120,00. The entry should be confirmed by e-mail with Form A filled and bank transfer.
6.4 Entries made on site shall be made in cash only (Real currency). The fee after October 15th will be R$ 150,00.
6.5 To confirm na entry the sailor should provide the documents as follows:
· Form A filled and signed by the competitor or his legal responsible;
· Form B to be filled by the responsible of the sailor under the age o

8 EQUIPMENT INSPECTION
8.1. It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure that his/her board and equipment conforms to its Class Rules, and an Equipment Inspection Form is returned to the Event Equipment Inspector before the start of competition.
8.2. Equipment checks may be made throughout the event.
9 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The 'Championship SIs' will be available at registration, as well as the Event Program scheduling social events.
10 COURSES
Courses shall be as prescribed in the Championship Rules or in the Sailing Instructions.
11 SCORING
Scoring will be in accordance with RRS Appendix B, as amended by the Championship Rules, and using the “Low Points Scoring System.”
12 BUOYANCY
11.1 If personal buoyancy is prescribed every competitor and support boat crewmember shall wear, above the waist, a jacket harness or vest with a minimum buoyancy of 4kg un-inflated in fresh water. The buoyancy shall be tested with a ferrous metal weight of 4kg, which shall remain supported for a minimum of 5 minutes.
11.2 Personal buoyancy is mandatory for all competitors under 17 years of age.
13 PRIZES
- 1st. to 5th. place Open.
- 1st. to 3rd. place Senior, Master and Gran Master
- 1st. to 3rd. Place junior U15 and U17
- 1st to 3rd. place Women
- 1st place Heavy and Light weights
- 1st place Team (each country team will be represented by its sailors)
- 1st ao 3rd place FW invited class

14. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
14.1 Competitors take part in all races at their own risk. The organizer, IWA, IFWC ABWS or any of their officials or representatives or the sponsors or their officials or representatives are not responsible, under any circumstances, for any damage, loss or injury either ashore or on the water either to persons or equipment, which may result.
14.2 Participation in this event, supporting events and in each race in them is at the sole discretion of the sailor and at his/her own risk. Notice is drawn to RRS 4.
15. TELEVISION AND MEDIA
In registering for the event, competitors automatically grant to the Organizing Authority the right in perpetuity to make, use and show from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproduction of them, taken during the period of the event, for the said Championship as defined in the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions in which he/she participates without compensation.
